Traditional fair with music in the lanes of Merano

17th and 18th Octobre 2009

The Merano grape harvest fair is one of the most popular harvest celebrations in the country. Every year thousands of locals and guests visit the city at the Passiria river at the end of Octobre to take part in the festival and enjoy its huge supporting programme.
The highlight of this traditional event is the marvellious Sunday pageant that leads through the historic lanes of the city. The colourful pageant  which includes beautifuly decorated floats brass bands and locals in costume, moves from the Northern city gate through the entire city and along the largest promenades, and past important historical locations.
The impressive and wide ranging programme of event includes open air music performances from various orchestras, folk groups and folk dance groups, trumpeters and brass bands and local costume guilds, some coming from the neighbouring region of Trentino and as far as Germany, Switzerland.
Lovers of European local traditions and costumes will be enchanted by this traditional fair and enjoy the revelry that takes place every year in the health spa of Merano since 1886.
