The Soirees at Tyrol Castle, held every year in June and July, are among the most popular summer events in Merano and Environs. Outstanding performances of Medieval and Renaissance music, including also early Baroque, are set against the magnificent background of Tyrol Castle, bringing the courtly spirit of the age alive once more with a rich historical side programme of supporting events. The program includes the tasting of culinary delicacies, prepared according to original court medieval recipes. After the concert the audience is invited to walk back to the centre of Dorf Tirol along the old romantic path, illuminated by hundreds of torches.

Every summer, the Tourist Association of the village of Dorf Tirol presents the unique opportunity of participating in an Adventure Hiking Tour hosted by the world-renowned mountaineer Hans Kammerlander. This tour gives you the possibility to discover new vantage points and simply enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of the mountains to the very fullest.

In 2009 the village of Dorf Tirol will celebrate its traditional Biennial Autumn festival. The festivities will begin with a performance by various local and foreign brass bands, followed by the traditional procession through the village which forms the centre of the festival. Meticulously decorated parade floats illustrate scenes and customs from the rural life of the village of Dorf Tirol, while various brass bands accompany the festive procession with traditional tunes and melodies. At the end of the pageant, traditional songs and dances will be performed and well-known folk music bands assure that the lively atmosphere and entertainment will continue until late in the evening.

Wine Tasting at the VinoCulti Festival, from October 16 to November 9

From October to November, the village of Dorf Tirol invites wine lovers from around the globe to come and taste the best products of this highly regarded wine growing region at the VinoCulti Festival. Many village restaurants, pubs and inns participate in VinoCulti each year, tempting the assembled wine enthusiasts with the year’s best local wines of all local grape varietals, alongside home-grown delicacies and organic regional products.
