Day 1: Tirol Castel / Kränzel MazeTyrol castle is the starting point for our cultural round trip. It is situated 15 minutes from the heart of Tyrol village. The castle hosts the South Tyrolean Museum of History. After visiting this most interesting historical museum we continue with a trip to the maze of the Kränzel mansion where a wide range of interesting elements features await you. Enjoy the maze, the garden, wine and the arts that will bring you back to the glories of the past.
Day 2: Touriseum / visiting the wine vault
Trauttmansdorff castle was built as a summer residence for the Austrian empress Elisabeth, today it is the home of the Touriseum which combines, in a most charming and ironical way, the social and cultural history of tourism in South Tyrol.
The round trip continues on to one of the largest wine cellars in the area of Merano, which for more than a hundred years produces top quality wines as part of a large scale farmer’s cooperative.
Day 3: Museum Passeier / Schilshöfe barnyard
On the third day of our round trip we will see the museum in Passiria valley that focuses on the civil uprising of the 19th century and presents the daily life of the peasant farmers. The museum is focused on the popular hero Andreas Hofer who dared to fight Napoleon, and win. The following trip through the entire valley will lead us through charming villages to Schildhöfe, the typical, as well as one of the most well preserved vineyards.
Day 4: St. Proculus Church / Archeoparc
The day 4 of our round trip is devoted to culture and leads us to the beautiful Venosta valley, to the St. Proculus Church that was built in the first half of the 7th century as a Germanic wooden church and contains the oldest existing pre-Carolingian fresco.
Our tour goes even further into the past by visiting the world of Oetzi the Ice man in the open-air Archeoparc museum, which also offers a wide range of interesting „prehistoric“ handicraft activities for the children to enjoy.
Day 5: Merano Art gallery/ Messner Mountain Museum
The 5th day is for the arts: modern and contemporary art are shown in the Merano Art gallery in the city centre of Merano next to the famous medieval porticoes. By way of contrast we will also visit the „Messner Mountain Museum“ of the world renowned mountaineer Reinhold Messner situated on Sigmundskron Castel next to Bolzano.
