In Ötzis footsteps
In this sunny
high alpine valley Ötzi the 5000 year old Iceman was found. One of the last wildernesses in the Alps, these rocky mountain peaks, glaciers, woods, and fresh-water lakes are home to such rare animals as eagles, falcons, ibexes and chamois.
In the valleys’ five picturesque villages called Katharinaberg, Karthaus, Unser Frau, Vernagt and Kurzras, you can choose among activity holidays, cultural trips through Prehistory or simply take time to relax.
Those with an interest in history can find ample information on life at the time of Ötzi in the
ArcheoParc Museum.
For those who seek a challenge, in honour of the Ice-man there is the
Ötzi Alpine Mountain Marathon. For skiers and snowboarders there is also year-round skiing on the 35 kilometres of slopes on the
Schnals glacier.
